Suffolk County Department of Social Services provide financial assistance and support services to eligible Suffolk County residents in a cost effective and efficient manner, simultaneously protecting the vulnerable while encouraging their independence and self-sufficiency. Temporary Housing Assistance:Persons who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless should apply for assistance at a Social Services Center. HEAP:The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) helps low-income people pay the cost of heating their homes.
