This waiting list is for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental housing assistance in Monterey County, California.

The Housing Authority of the County of Monterey (HACM) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from July 1, 2024 at 9:00 am, until July 12, 2024 at 11:59 pm PT. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

Selection Process

5,000 selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.

In September 2024, the housing authority hosted an in person event, inviting 1,000 of those 5,000 applicants to come in and go through final screening and receive a voucher. This is a one of a kind event that Affordable Housing Online hasn't seen anywhere else. It was highlighted in a news report by KSBW Action News.

Application Method

To apply while the waitlist was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.
